Government workers find it hard to innovate because of layers of approval

You have a great idea, but there are so many people who need to see it that you believe you’ll be 100 years old before anything can happen! Calm down. Look at your idea and see if you made it too big. Often small changes can be approved – it is the big ones that need layers of approval. If you are asking for money, know this is a request that may take awhile. Work on your persuasion skills and see if, perhaps, you can enlist the team and your manager to fight for and with you. Don’t be a naysayer who gives up before even starting. Share your passion and enthusiasm and rationale. If others come on board, you may be surprised at the momentum your project gains.
